Trimester by Trimester

Every phase holds its own unique wisdom.

Acupuncture offers a drug-free treatment option throughout pregnancy that is safe and effective. A welcome alternative to medication for many pregnancy symptoms that are too often dismissed as something to simply endure.

First Trimester

  • Extreme fatigue & energy depletion
  • Threatened miscarriage & implantation support
  • Anxiety, overwhelm & mood instability
  • IVF & ART pregnancy continuation

Weekly · Wks 1–13
Second Trimester

The Evolving Body
As your body expands to hold new life, the physical demands on your musculoskeletal system, digestion, and hormonal landscape increase. Monthly maintenance acupuncture keeps you comfortable and balanced.
  • Pelvic girdle pain & symphysis pubis dysfunction
  • Lower back & sciatic pain
  • Heartburn & reflux
  • Insomnia & sleep disruption
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Gestational diabetes & blood pressure support

The final weeks of pregnancy are a time of profound preparation. Pre-birth acupuncture from Week 35 prepares your body, pelvis, and baby for what lies ahead physically, emotionally and spirituality.
  • Pre-birth cervical ripening protocol
  • Optimal baby positioning (including breech)
  • Pelvic & nervous system preparation
  • Anxiety & birth fear (tokophobia)

Preconception health directly influences fertility, pregnancy outcomes, and the long-term health of the child. Research confirms that maternal nutritional status, stress levels, and environmental exposures in the preconception period have measurable epigenetic effects on offspring health.

Pre-Birth Treatment Protocol

The body already knows. We prepare the path.

Pre-birth acupuncture is one of the most evidence-supported applications of Chinese medicine in pregnancy. A structured protocol of four weekly treatments from Week 36 to 40 that prepares the body, pelvis, and nervous system for the work of birth. Research suggests women who receive pre-birth acupuncture experience shorter labours, higher rates of spontaneous onset, and reduced rates of medical intervention. This isn't magic, it's preparing what was already ready to begin.

Whether journeying into fertility solo or with a partner everyone is welcome here. Telehealth consultations are available for interstate and international patients.

  • Cervical ripening and softening
  • Pelvic floor and sacral release
  • Optimal baby positioning encouraged
  • Nervous system calming and birth confidence
  • Oxytocin and prostaglandin pathway support
  • Personalised birth plan review and preparation

Labour Induction Acupuncture

When the body needs a gentle invitation.

Labour "induction acupuncture" is available from Week 40. Offering a gentle, evidence-informed way to encourage your body to begin labour spontaneously. It works by activating the same hormonal and neurological pathways that govern natural labour onset, without intervention.

Oxytocin Stimulation
Specific acupuncture points activate the body's natural oxytocin productionn, the primary hormone responsible for contractions and labour onset.
Research demonstrates increased oxytocin release following acupuncture at specific points, supporting spontaneous labour in post-dates pregnancies.
Cervical Ripening
Prostaglandin-stimulating points help soften and ripen the cervix. Preparing for efficient dilatation and engagement as labour begins.
Clinical studies show acupuncture significantly increases Bishop's Score a key measure of cervical readiness in post-term pregnancies.
Nervous System Regulation
Anxiety and fear are among the primary inhibitors of labour onset. Acupuncture activates the parasympathetic response, creating the safety the body needs to begin.
The parasympathetic nervous system is a prerequisite for spontaneous labour. Stress hormones inhibit oxytocin, regulation of this system is central to birth readiness.
Baby Descent & Positioning
Specific points encourage baby's engagement into the pelvis and optimal positioning . Supporting efficient descent and reducing the likelihood of posterior presentation.
Acupuncture combined with moxibustion has demonstrated efficacy in encouraging fetal engagement and descent in nulliparous women at term.
