01The Beginning

A turning point I didn't choose but needed

I didn't plan to become a women's health practitioner. But looking back, I think my body always knew.

At fifteen, I was navigating adolescence with no real sexual health education and a contraceptive pill that made me violently ill both physically and mentally. My body was rejecting it, and no one seemed to have another answer. What came next changed the course of everything.

I fell pregnant.

In that moment, the person who changed my life wasn't a doctor. It was my mum, Judith. She has since passed, and I carry her with me in everything I do. Rather than panic, she made one extraordinary decision she sent me to a natural fertility specialist. Through that door, I discovered the Fertility Awareness Method. For the first time, I understood my own body. Not as something to be managed or medicated, but as something intelligent, cyclical, and worth listening to.

That fifteen-year-old Amanda is still so grateful, and she always will be.

Healing is not linear. And the path back to yourself rarely looks the way you imagined it would.

02Finding My Path

A Scorpio who never stops looking for answers

In my early twenties, I was living entirely in my yang.

Competing in half ironman events. Building a career. Pushing, striving, achieving always more, always forward. My body was extraordinary to me then, but only because of what it could produce. It was a vehicle. A means to an end. I thought I was invincible, because for a time, I was.

Until the day my body simply refused to carry me any further.

That unravelling wasn't gentle. But it was necessary. And it became the greatest teacher of my life.

It was through that breakdown of body, of identity, of the version of myself I had been so relentlessly building that I found Chinese Medicine and yoga. Not as wellness pursuits. As medicine. As a way back to myself.

I went on to complete a double degree in Health Science: Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at Victoria University, followed by hospital internships in China, and a depth of ongoing learning that has never stopped. It is my life medicine. But the real education had already begun in my own body, in my own surrender.

I am a Scorpio through and through. And what that means for my patients is this: I will not stop looking until I find what is underneath. I love answers. I always have.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine we speak of the Ben and Biao, the root and the branch theory. For me, it has always been about the root. That is where the real answers live, and that is where I go, every single time.

I am a Scorpio through and through and what that means for my patients is this: I will not stop investigating until I have an answer. Think of me as your health detective.

"I wanted to create a place where women felt truly heard, held and seen. Where your complexity wasn't a burden to be managed — but an invitation to go deeper."

— Dr Amanda Waaldyk
03Lived Experience

I know this terrain. Not just clinically. Personally.

I know this terrain. Not just clinically. Personally.

Between becoming a mother to my beautiful children Winnie and Freddie, I endured two miscarriages. We nearly lost Winnie when she spent two months in ICU just after her first birthday. I was 25 weeks pregnant with Freddie during that time and due to the weight of the stress, he arrived premature at 33 weeks, only two weeks after Winnie came home.

I have a Stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis diagnosis. In 2021, I had my fallopian tubes removed due to endosalpingiosis. And now, at 46, I am moving through perimenopause, navigating that tender, complex, often misunderstood transition with curiosity rather than fear, and with every integrative tool I have at my disposal.

I share this not for sympathy, but because it matters. When you sit with me, you are sitting with someone who has been in the hardest rooms of women's health not from a textbook, but from lived experience.

This is especially true of perimenopause. So many women arrive at this threshold largely unsupported. The conversations too clinical, too rushed, too dismissive of what is actually a profound hormonal and life transition. I am walking this path alongside my patients right now. That changes everything about how I hold this chapter of care for myself and for you.

I share this not for sympathy, but because it matters. When you sit with me, you are sitting with someone who has been in the hardest rooms of women's health not from a textbook, but from lived experience.

04The Practice

Stepping fully into my name

For nearly two decades I poured everything into building Angea Women's Health and it became something I am profoundly proud of. A community of care. A clinic that held thousands of women. A space that stood for something different. But Angea has always been an expression of me. And it is time to step fully and unapologetically into my name.

As Dr Amanda Waaldyk, I bring the fullness of who I am to this work. I am a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, a herbalist, a yoga teacher, a shamanic womb healer and above all, a space holder.

Women have often told me they felt heard in my room for the first time. That matters to me more than I can articulate.

My approach weaves integrative practices and medicine together, acupuncture, herbal medicine, functional medicine, energy work, yoga, meditation. Because the body is complex, layered, cyclical, and deeply intelligent. My work is to listen to what it is already telling you, and to find the path forward together.

— Dr Amanda Waaldyk, Doctor of Chinese Medicine

After twenty years, it is time to step fully into my name. What began as Angea has always been an expression of me — and now, as Dr Amanda Waaldyk, I bring everything I am to this work. Ancient wisdom. Modern medicine. And an unrelenting desire to find the answers that matter.

How I Work

Six pillars of integrative care

Every area I work in is connected because your body is connected. These are the six pillars that anchor my practice, each approached with the same philosophy: investigate deeply, treat the root, and honour the whole woman.

Fertility & IVF Support
Preparing the body, supporting the cycle, and walking beside you through every step of your fertility journey.
02
Endometriosis & Adenomyosis Care
Specialist, informed support for two of the most underdiagnosed conditions in women's health. I understand this from the inside out.
03
Pelvic Health
Internal Pelvic Release, Pelvic Floor Acupuncture, and Womb Healing, three specialised modalities, one unified approach to the pelvic landscape.
04
Womb Healing
Sacred, ceremonial, and unlike anything else I offer.
05
Pregnancy & Birth Preparation
Supporting women through every trimester, into birth and beyond with the depth and care every mother deserves.
06
Hormonal & Cycle Health

Advocacy & Community

It's time for a women's health revolution

It's time for a women's health revolution.

Beyond the clinic room, I have given enormous energy to building a community that actively shifts the narrative around women's health. I have personally trained over 70 yoga teachers through Mindful Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training, because the reach of this knowledge must extend far beyond my own practice.

Endometriosis and adenomyosis are causes I hold close and advocate for loudly. Every year I host community events for Endometriosis Awareness Month not just to raise visibility, but to educate, connect women with one another, and amplify the truth. Endo and adeno still take an average of seven to ten years to diagnose. That is not acceptable and I will not be quiet about it.

That conviction is what led me to build Know Your Endo Surgeon. Because choosing a surgeon should never be a matter of luck. It is a patient-led global directory, built on verified, anonymised reviews. Where women can search real surgical experiences, assess a surgeon's approach, and walk into that room informed. Not blind. Not guessing. Informed.

And through Woom Health, I brought that same root-cause philosophy into formulation. Gynaecological TCM products that address endometriosis and PCOS (PMOS). Because worry-free periods shouldn't be a privilege.

Through speaking, mentoring, teaching, and showing up consistently in clinic, in community, and in conversation. I am building something beyond a practice. This is a movement. And it begins with every single woman who finally feels seen.
